With sci-tech innovation as its high-quality development, Guangdong has ranked 1st in China for 5 years in a row in terms of regional innovation capacity, according to a press conference on the province's scientific and technological innovation achievements held on June 2.

The 13th Guangdong Provincial Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will be held from May 22 to 25 in Guangzhou, according to a press conference on May 20.

The total value of imports and exports in Guangdong increased to 8.27 trillion RMB in 2021 from 6.3 trillion RMB in 2016, with an annual net growth of 1.2 trillion RMB and an increase of 16.7%, and the foreign investment in actual use registered 184 billion RMB, an increase of 13.6%, according to Zhang Jinsong, director general of Guangdong Department of Commerce, at a press conference on the socio-economic achievements of Guangdong held on the morning of May 12.

Guangdong has lifted 1.615 million impoverished people and 2,277 impoverished villages out of poverty, said Gu Xingwei, director-general of Guangdong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural areas at a press conference regarding the province's rural revitalization held Thursday.

"Guangdong has cracked down on more than 1400 criminal gangs from 2018-2020," said Zhang Qinghong, Deputy Secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs, Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China at a press organized by Guangdong's Information Office on April 22.

In 2021, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's GDP stood at 12.6 trillion RMB, an increase of 2.4 trillion RMB higher than that in 2017.

Guangdong released its plan of action including 32 measures to stimulate market entities’ vitality, for the purpose of sustaining the growth momentum of Guangdong’s industrial sector and keeping it running within an appropriate range.

Hoping to share locally-made pre-prepared delicacies with the whole world in such hard times, Guangdong is to organize a series of pre-prepared food tasting activities targeting global consumers both inside and outside China soon. And to support that, more export-oriented enterprises domestically as well as processing bases overseas are to be built up.

Guangdong will adopt 47 policy measures to lower company operation costs and optimize the business environment so as to support the market entities in the service industry to pull through the epidemic and ensure the economy keeps running within an appropriate range.

Guangdong plans to input more than 800 billion RMB (about 126 USD) in water conservancy in the coming years, with more than 400 billion RMB within the "14th Five-Year Plan" period (2021-2025).
