The 2022 Global Investment Promotion Conference for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) will be held both online and offline in Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao from December 21 to December 22. According to a press conference held on December 15, the offline session will kick off at the Nansha Garden Hotel of Guangzhou on December 21. Meanwhile, the other two main venues will be simultaneously set in Hong Kong and Macao.

"As the reform to delegate power, streamline administration and optimize government services is being steadily advanced, the foreign investment negative list in the free trade zone has been further shortened and items on projects in the manufacturing industry have been cut to zero," said Zhang Jinsong, director general of Guangdong Department of Commerce and director of the general affairs office of the Guangdong free trade zone (FTZ).

On July 5, a press conference on guaranteeing and improving people's livelihood in Guangdong was held in Guangzhou, presenting Guangdong's achievements in medical care, education, and pensions in the past five years.

Guangdong plans to establish coordinated development zones of the Guangdong Pilot Free Trade Zone (GDFTZ) in 13 cities, announced Zhang Jinsong, director-general of Guangdong Department of Commerce, on June 28. The 13 cities are Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou, Foshan, Shaoguan, Huizhou, Shanwei, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Yangjiang, Zhanjiang, and Maoming.

China’s State Council recently issued an overall plan for Nansha District of Guangzhou, one of the major cooperation platforms in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). A press conference which gathered officials of different government departments was held on June 28 to shed light on the plan as well as the future development of Nansha.

In 2021, the ratio of days with good air quality in Guangdong was 94.3%. And the average PM2.5 concentration has dropped to 22 micrograms per cubic meter, meeting the WHO phase 2 standard," Lu Xiulu, Director General of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Guangdong Province, announced at a press conference on June 23.

June 25 marks China's 32nd National Land Day. Just before the special day, Guangdong announced that the province aims to build a system for high-quality protection and efficient usage of natural resources by 2025.

The province has been actively disseminating Lingnan culture to the world, according to Cui Chaoyang, Deputy Director General of the Publicity Department of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, at a press conference on June 17.

Since 2018, Guangdong has made remarkable achievements in the "One Core Region, One Belt and One Area Initiative". As the core region of the Pearl River Delta continues to enhance its development momentum, the Coastal Economic Belt has been better underpinned by its industries and the Northern Ecological Development Area has the increasingly salient advantages of green development.

Guangdong’s new regulation on improving business environment will take effect on July 1, and supporting policies are under consideration and will be issued in the second half of the year.
