From June 1st to 5th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Guangdong Province jointly hosted the event "Set Sail for the 15th Five-Year Plan: China's Growth, World's Opportunity (Guangdong)." A delegation of 60 diplomats from 37 countries visited Guangdong to witness the latest achievements from Guangdong's practices in advancing Chinese modernization and jointly opening a new chapter of cooperation during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

"This is my first visit to Guangzhou," said Selçuk Ünal, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to China, in an interview with reporters. He noted that Guangdong is renowned for its high-tech industries and that annual trade between Türkiye and Guangdong reached approximately 7.8 billion U.S. dollars. He expressed hope for further strengthening cooperation between the two sides.
At the Haixinsha Full-space Intelligent Experience Center, diplomatic envoys from multiple countries immersed themselves in the achievements of Guangzhou's modern industrial system. "Guangdong's experience is very important because Guangdong is a center of innovation," said Aleksandr Chervyakov, Ambassador of Belarus to China. He noted that the two sides have already cooperated in areas such as deep processing of agricultural products and high-tech materials. He also expressed hope that China's opening-up policy and the 15th Five-Year Plan would create potential opportunities for cooperation in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, high-tech manufacturing and biotechnology.

The diplomatic delegation also visited the final assembly workshop of GAC Aion to observe the full intelligent manufacturing process of new energy vehicles. "Austria has a long tradition of innovation in manufacturing and maintains good cooperation with Chinese enterprises," said Andreas Riecken, Austrian Ambassador to China. Taking GAC Group as an example, he noted that its cooperation with Austrian companies has lasted for many years and is regarded as a successful model. Currently, several GAC Aion models are produced in Austria and exported to a number of European countries, where they have achieved market success.
The year 2026 marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Austria. Riecken said he was impressed by Guangzhou's progress in green transformation and renewable energy. He expressed hope of further exploring cooperation opportunities with China in renewable energy technologies, equipment and solutions.
Theresia Shanel, Second Secretary at the Solomon Islands Embassy in China, said that Guadalcanal Province, the largest and most important province of Solomon Islands, has established a sister-province relationship with Guangdong Province, becoming the first pair of provincial-level sister regions between China and Solomon Islands. As a result, they have many opportunities to visit Guangdong and have benefited greatly from its vast market.
