On May 2nd, the second day of the May Day holiday, travel enthusiasm across Guangdong continued to rise. According to preliminary estimates, 4A-level and above tourist attractions in the province received 3.942 million visits that day, up 5.2% year-on-year. Fourteen monitored key areas along ancient post roads recorded 578,000 visits, up 4.4%. Thirteen monitored classic red tourism sites received 278,000 visits, up 4.5%. A total of 434,000 visits were made to 100 monitored rural tourism sites and historic villages, up 5.4%. Meanwhile, 80 monitored key public cultural institutions received 224,000 visits, up 4.6%.

During the holiday, Guangdong's cultural and tourism market showcased vibrant growth in the "experience economy." Events such as the Guangdong City Football Super League, Guangdong City Basketball League, and the Guangdong Esports Super League were in full swing. Leveraging the "ticket stub economy," these events seamlessly integrated spectating with consumption, allowing fans to explore an entire city with a single ticket. The Firefly Animation and Game Carnival Guangzhou attracted more than 200,000 young attendees, with its popularity spilling over from exhibition halls into surrounding commercial districts and sparking an immersive ACG-themed celebration. In places such as Deqing County in Zhaoqing, local distinctive cultural resources were leveraged to promote the integration of agriculture, culture and tourism into emerging sectors. Through a series of innovative practices, Guangdong is upgrading its cultural and tourism offerings from sightseeing to immersive experiences, and from"transit tourism" to in-depth travel.
