As the Canton Fair approaches, "embodied AI staff" have begun appearing at some hotels in the Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone. These robots are even capable of communicating in foreign languages.

"Hello, it's my pleasure to serve you." At Langham Place, Guangzhou, Xiaozhi—an embodied AI staff member—served guests in the lobby during the National Day holiday.

"Xiaozhi" can greet guests and bow respectfully to them. Powered by a new large language model, the robot can communicate in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. When testers asked the robot questions about the weather, transportation, or tourist attractions in these languages, the robot could provide relatively accurate answers and suggestions after briefly considering the questions.

Therobot has also learned to perform simple tasks such as brewing coffee and operating a popcorn stand. Many hotel guests have tasted coffee brewed by "Xiao Zhi" and enjoyed popcorn precisely portioned by the robot.
