The Information Office of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province (GDIO) is the office in charge of the province’s international communication. Its main functions are:

1.To arrange the province’s press conferences and organize news coverage on major policies, issues, events and conferences. To guide and coordinate the press conferences held by the province’s relevant departments and all cities in Guangdong.

2.To formulate the province's international communication strategy and see through its implementation. To guide the development of international communication platforms, organize overseas promotional activities and coordinate relevant departments and news media to conduct international communication. To promote exchange and cooperation with media from around the world, enabling overseas media to cover Guangdong objectively and accurately. To provide guidance on the production, display, publication, and distribution of Guangdong’s promotional materials.

To handle the related affairs of foreign journalists and permanent offices of foreign news agencies in the province. To work together with relevant departments to provide services to journalists from foreign countries and regions as well as from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who come to Guangdong for news coverage.
